Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage originated in India over 1000 years ago. It is based on Ayurveda which is an ancient healing system. Ayurvedic oils, like coconut, sesame, almond, olive, herbal, buttermilk or mustard oil, were traditionally used in Indian head massage. These oils are excellent to keep the hair and scalp in good condition. However nowadays the use of oils is optional.
Indian head massage is a therapeutic massage technique using gentle, rhythmic movements. It focuses on the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, ears and face. It stimulates nerves, and can help loosen up muscles and relax tissues.
Indian head massage uses pressure points called Marma points, similar to points used in acupressure. Using these points has a positive effect on the three higher chakras, throat chakra, third eye chakra and crown chakra. Chakras are the energy centres in our body where the energy flows through. They are a link between our emotional and physical body. We have seven primary chakras, which are Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, Solar Plexus, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third Eye Chakra and Crown Chakra. Balancing the chakras during an Indian head massage can have a positive effect on the body, mind and soul.

Normally during Indian head massage, the client sits in a chair with full clothing, but the massage can also be done by the client laying down on the massage bed.
A full session of Indian head massage lasts 30-45 minutes. It can also be mixed with other therapies. For example after a more powerful and sometimes painful sports massage, it can be very relaxing to receive a short Indian head massage at the end.
Regular sessions of Indian head massage often result in many health benefits. Every session of Indian head massage is customised to fit your unique needs.
